Steven R. Matul

d. November 2, 2021

Steven R. Matul, 68, passed away suddenly on November 2, 2021 at his Lombard, IL home. Steve was the very much loved son of the late Ralph R. and the late Lorraine (Janota) Matul. Devoted brother of the late Sandra Ann Matul. He will be missed by his loving godmother aunt Cecilia “Cis” Matul along with many cousins and friends. Steve was a member of the PDGA – Professional Disc Golf Assn. and as #008 was considered to be one of the local disc golf legend elites, being featured in “Serious Steve’s School of Special Shots” on You Tube. His passion and enthusiasm for the sport along with his sharp math skills led to his devoting many hours developing and designing courses such as The Canyons in Dellwood Park, Lockport, IL (considered one of the top ten disc golf courses in the world) and the Central Park Disc Golf Course in Oak Brook, IL (said to be one of the most unique meticulously designed 9-hole courses in the Country). Steve also had an interest in astronomy, the universe and beyond. He enjoyed cycling and dabbled in guitar as a teenager. He was a spectator sports enthusiast. During the construction of the Stroger Hospital in Chicago in 1912-1916, Steve was a project manager. Family and friends will gather on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. for a memorial visitation until time of Memorial Mass 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church , 9300 W. 163rd St. Orland Park.
