Ronald J. Kassen

May 20, 1941 — July 30, 2023

Palos Park

Ronald John Kassen passed away on July 30, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born on May 20, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois. Ron was a devoted husband to Marge Kassen, a loving father to Michelle Kassen, and a cherished father-in-law to Shawn Kenney. He adored his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Kenney.
He was preceeded in death by his father, Adolph Kassen, and his mother, Anastasia (Tebelskis) Kassen. He is survived by his brother, James Kassen, cousins Carl (Berens), Glen (Berens), Anthony (Tebelskis), Robert (Tebelskis), Linda (Tebelskis), Arlene (Tebelskis) and Linda (Kassen-Tumbarelli).

Ron Kassen was a remarkable man, and was "papa" to everyone he met. He was so full of love and wisdom, and always ready to share some with those in need. Those whose lives he touched will always remember his beautiful smile, and special way of making everyone he encountered feel loved. Whether you were the cashier at the grocery store or the waiter at a restaurant, he would refer to you as "my friend". He truly meant it.

Professionally, Ron was a manufacturer's representative and owned his own business. He lived by the motto, "the harder I work, the luckier I get." It proved true.
In his leisure time, Ron enjoyed stock trading, traveling, and eating ice cream. He was a voracious reader, and was always seeking new knowledge. Ron's passion for learning about the world only made it a better place. He was a hero-- in large ways and in small, and he did everything with zest, passion, and most importantly, love.

The wake will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home in Palos Hills, IL.
