Rene Germaine Mc Fadden

Rene Germaine McFadden, born in Chicago, Illinois on December 16, 1960, beloved daughter, sister, life partner, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026 surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, friendship, and service to her community.

Rene will be deeply missed by her mother and stepfather, Arlene (nee Germain) and Edward Kasper; her sister, Deanna McFadden (Christopher Welch); her life partner, Christopher Grider; and the many relatives and friends whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Geraldine (nee Coote) Germain, and her father, William E. McFadden.

Rene had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome, valued, and loved. She cherished the many people who came into her life and was deeply involved in her community. She was very social and had many circles of friends, each one holding a special place in her heart. Rene was known for her kind and giving spirit, always willing to help others and share what she had.

One of the causes especially close to Rene’s heart was supporting veterans. She was proud to honor those who had served our country and found meaningful ways to show her appreciation. Rene was a member VFW Auxiliary in Lockport, IL. A few years ago, she designed and made commemorative bracelets for veterans who took part in the Honor Flight from Midway Airport. Her thoughtful creations were a personal expression of gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

Rene was also an artist at heart. She loved designing and creating her own jewelry and beautiful sun-catchers using beads, crystals, and other colorful materials. Her creations reflected her creativity, warmth, and eye for beauty. She found joy in making things with her hands and, even more so, in giving those creations to others.

Rene’s greatest gifts were her heart and her ability to connect with people. She gave freely of her time, her talents, her friendship, and her love. Her memory will live on not only in the hearts of those who knew her, but also in the jewelry and sun-catchers she created, the veterans she honored, and the countless people who experienced her generosity and kindness.

Rene will be remembered, cherished, and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Family and friends to gather for visitation Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 3:00pm – 8:00pm. Funeral Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 10:30 am until time of Funeral Service 11:30 a.m. at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Hwy, Palos Hills, Il 60465. Interment Fairmount Willow Hills Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Glioblastoma Research Organization (https://www.gbmresearch.org) or a charity of your choice in memory of Rene.
