Phyllis Marchese

Phyllis Marchese (Garritano)  passed away on September 24th at the age of 83. Devoted wife of the late Carlo. Cherished mother of Rosemary (Frank) Solecki, Anna (Lance) Thielen and Lucia Marchese. Loving Nana of Lance, David, Tiffany, Zachary and Sarah.  Phyllis was born on May 18, 1936 in San Lucido, Italy to parents Enrico and Maria Garritano. She came to the United States at the age of 19 when she married Carlo, going on to have three daughters she cherished.  She loved her family dearly and spent as much time as possible loving and spoiling her 5 grandchildren the last 29 years. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. Though she was torn with staying for her family who she so loved and was devoted to… on Tuesday morning she told her daughter “I’m asking Jesus to take me home today.” He answered her prayer. We know though she’s no longer present with us – she’s more alive than she’s ever been. She’s home!  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (stjude.org).   Funeral Monday, Sept.30th, 11 AM at St. Linus Church. 10300 S. Lawler, Oak Lawn.
