Patrick Joseph Luchsinger

Patrick Joseph Luchsinger passed away on July 19, 2025 after celebrating his 79th birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Joseph and Patricia (Casey) Luchsinger.

Born in 1946 on the southside of Chicago, he grew up in a large, loving home in Beverly. Patrick was the first of seven children. His siblings Frank, Jon, Margaret, Jay, Deborah and Joseph remain to continue the Luchsinger Legacy along with many nieces and nephews.

In 1968 he graduated from Leo High School and then studied pharmaceutical science at University of Illinois Chicago. He was the first Luchsinger to attend and graduate college. While at university, he met Carole (Komorowski) Luchsinger, a nursing student. They married in 1969 and went on to have two children Patrick James (Jessie (Ubel) Luchsinger) and Sam (Andrew Golding). Patrick loved his grandchild, Ryker, cheering him on at his hockey games. They shared a love of cars, attending many car shows together over the years.

Patrick was passionate about the family lake and land in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, passed down from his father. With his brothers and sisters, they maintained the space, rebuilding the cabin after a fire; clearing and rebuilding the road to the cabin many times over. Many memories were created while in Rhinelander and he would always return to Illinois ready to go back up again.

He played an active role in the lives of his family. He would get together with his children on holidays, play silly games or lend a hand whenever they needed. Alongside his brother Jon, he farmed garlic, with his brother Jay he built a brick patio, with Deborah he travelled to Colorado, with Frank he fished, with Joe, attended the Southside Irish parade and with Marg he always went to Red Lobster. There were countless joys of getting together, discussions about the news all while sitting by a campfire, enjoying the stars over the lake.

Patrick made friends easily. He was a longtime pharmacist at the family run Gross Pharmacy and Grocery in Beverly. When he moved to Wausau, Wisconsin for a job at the hospital, he found a large community at St. Anne’s Parish and found a small community of Bears Fans. (Even in Packers Country!) Keeping in touch with people he cared about was very important to him. In his free time he loved vintage automobiles, riding motorcycles, guitars and fishing.

Patrick’s ashes will be returned to nature so he can enjoy the serenity of the North Woods for as long as he likes.

A party to celebrate his life will be held August 15th at Cork & Kerry Pub located at 10614 S Western Avenue, Chicago, IL 60643 from 3-9 pm. Please join his family and friends to share stories and memories of Patrick.
