Marcel J. Jacobs was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 27, 1959. Marcel is preceded in death by his parents Neilan and Georgianna Jacobs. He was the second of four children. Marcel passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Marcel began a relationship with God through Jesus Christ at a young age. He lived a life defined by deep faith, creative excellence, and an unwavering devotion to God and his family.
Marcel received his formal education in Chicago where he attended Lindblom Technical High School. Marcel graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Marcel enjoyed a distinguished professional career in video production,editing, and television camera work. His high work ethic and his technical expertise was highly regarded in his profession. He brought his talents to major networks including ABC and was a vital part of the technical team of Liberty Temple FGC Gospel Theater & Holywood Studios. Notably contributing to the production of “The Awakening.” His devotion to excellence was also the hallmark of his spiritual life.
Marcel, a devoted minister of the gospel, served the Lord in many capacities. He was a gifted praise & worship leader who loved to sing and usher people into the presence of the Lord.
He truly ran a good race, fought a good fight, kept the faith and finished the course. Marcel was the heart of his family and a loving husband to his wife Carol for nearly 40 years. He leaves to cherish his memory and to celebrate his legacy, his loving wife, Carol; his daughter, Jennifer Jacobs; his two sons:
Benjamin and Matthew (Christine) Jacobs; his siblings, Darryl (Elaine) Jacobs, Michael Jacobs, Michelle Hudson; his aunts and uncle; his in-laws; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. While he will be deeply missed, his family finds peace knowing he has been welcomed into heaven and is now at rest with the Lord whom he served so faithfully.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Friday , February 27, 2026 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home 11028 Southwest Hwy. Palos Hills, IL 60465 Interment Fairmount Willow Hills Cemetery
