Lola M Bonham

Lola Marina Bonham (nee Scaruffi) October 11, 1933 - August 8, 2026 - adored daughter of the late Mistica Mary (nee Bertacchi) and the late Fortunato D. Scaruffi. Married to the love of her life, her soulmate, the late Frank Bonham for 67 years. Lola was the most caring, kindest, loving mother to Judy (Louis) Buttny, Jerry (Kim) Bonham, and Nancy (Larry) Wojcik. Loving grandmother who lived to spoil her grandchildren, Franklin (Mary) Bonham, Toria Suchorabski, Christine (Colin) Palhegyi, Katherine (Steven) Schoiber, Louis (Evelyn Field) Buttny, Nellie Lola (Robert Klein) Bonham, Donald (Emmanuel Navarrete) Bonham, and Kelly (Thomas) Ahern. Proud grandma-grandma to her great-grandchildren, Lilly, Rose, Kate, Franklin, Margaret, Alexa, Jacob, Zachary, Amelia Lola, Dorothy, Emily, Evan, Kyle, and Lainey. She is also survived by her dear brother-in-law, Robert G. Bonham, and many nieces and nephews.

Lola graduated from Simmons School in Oak Lawn and then Blue Island Community High School. She was a senior when General Dwight D. Eisenhower visited Blue Island Community High School for the dedication ceremony at which time the school was renamed Eisenhower High School. It was a memory she enjoyed sharing. She met Frank shortly after high school when he literally swept her off her feet. They married in 1953 at the Wayside Chapel in Palos Park. They bought a plot of land in The Friendly Village of Worth where they built their house with their own hands and built a home with their hearts. Lola was active in the Worth PTA, where she served as Treasurer, and the Worth schools, where she served as room mother and hot dog lady, and she assisted any teacher with anything they ever asked of her. She was one of the founding members of the Worth Volunteer Fire Department's Women's Auxiliary and served as their first president. Lola was the Assistant Treasurer for the Village of Worth for 22 years.

Over the years, her various medical teams have referred to Lola as their miracle patient, Wonder Woman, one of the strongest people we've ever met, and one of the nicest people we've had the pleasure of knowing. Lola always went out of her way to let people know that they mattered, that they were accepted, and that they were loved. Lola will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation Friday August 14th 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 12:30 AM at the Palos Gaidas Funeral Home. Interment Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery
