James Felonk

James “Jim” Felonk born on a hot summer day in 1948 to Andy and Lillian. Dear brother to

Andy, Bobby and Barbara. Grew up running wild in the back of the yards neighborhood riding bikes, playing baseball and hockey at Davis Square Park. Him, brother Bobby and friends had to make their own ice rink and their own sticks. Jim had no skates so he had to run on the ice.

Maybe that is why he was such a hockey fan. Discovered his passion for music and self taught himself to play the drums. May have even brought home a few records that were not mom approved. Formed a band called the Pedestrians during the 60s garage band era.

Answered his called of duty to the US Army. Tested high in communications and was stationed in Germany. There he was able to spread his wings and experience culture, art and of course food. Returned home and tried to continued his music journey while also bartending. Met the love of his life Cindy and also became the main roadie for the City Boys band. Took care of equipment, ran the soundboard, drove the van, became their chef and unofficial photographer.

Built a life in Chicago, setting in Brighton Park as their three wonderful children came into this world - Peter, Nick and Jamie (Dan). Settled permanently in Chicago Ridge and adopted his fur baby Taylor. Worked tirelessly on his Florida Room. He always loved tropical stuff and built a paradise to hang out in. All were welcome to come and enjoy. Even made his own palm tree.

Enjoyed a good book and was thirsty for knowledge. Encouraged us to keep an open mind in life and always ask questions. His sense of humor was unsurmountable and he always knew how to have a great time. Good tunes (preferably the Beatles), great company and a nice stiff rum and Pepsi. If you show up during baking season you either got a hunk of cake or left with a baggie of cookies. He worked very hard for everything he had and was proud of his family.

We are truly blessed to have had him in our lives and will miss him everyday- especially since you never knew what he would say next. There is definitely a party up in heaven now, and we know who is playing the music. Love you always.
