Gregory Louis Kelsey, age 23, passed away suddenly, leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply and will forever cherish his memory. As a Greek Orthodox Christian, Greg was humble and kind with a genuine love of his family and pets. An animal lover at heart, Greg adored his beloved cats, Madison and Addison, who brought him endless companionship and joy. He also enjoyed dining out and was always happy to visit a Japanese restaurant, Noodles & Company, or any place that served his favorite drink, Dr Pepper especially if he was accompanied by his Uncle Louie. He was proud of earning his bachelor’s degree in history from Illinois State University, an accomplishment he worked hard to achieve. Greg looked forward to pursuing his dream of becoming a history teacher, hoping to inspire and support others as he had been. He believed that understanding history helped people better understand one another and improve the present day. His enthusiasm for history and sharing facts left a lasting impression on those who knew him. Greg formed meaningful friendships within the online community where he was affectionately known as “Roach.” He loved role-playing games and was especially talented at creating story lines and developing rich narratives that brought people together. His creativity, humor, and loyalty earned him many cherished friendships across the gaming world. Greg is survived by his loving mother, Koula Lalezas, and father, Terry Kelsey Jr. as well as his siblings through birth and marriage, Jonathon and Veronica Kelsey, Pavlos and Angela Marudas, and Elizabeth Kelsey and Gabe DiRienzo. Greg was in awe of his beautiful niece, Nora Kelsey and was eager to welcome a nephew in September. He is also survived by his grandparents, Dimitrios and Georgia Lalezas and Terry and Patricia Kelsey in addition to many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. Though his time on earth was far too short, Greg’s kindness, intellect, creativity, faith, and love for others will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May his memory be eternal! All arrangements entrusted to Orrico Kourelis Funeral Services Inc.
