Francis Christopher Doll

Francis Christopher “Chris” Doll, of seventy-one years of age, passed awayon September 29, 2025, in Joliet, Montana. He was the husband of Dr.Diana I. Doll. They shared thirty years of marriage together.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Francis L. Doll and Beverlee A.Doll. He attended Mendel Catholic High School, Chicago, Illinois,graduating in 1973, and Richard J. Daley College of Chicago, Illinois. He worked various jobs in his life, including owner-operator, equestrian professional, and stay-at-home father.

He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering with 4-H. He cherished the mountains, camping, hiking, fishing, gourmet cooking, eclectic music, his Irish heritage, and watching his favorite sports teams with family. No animal was a stranger to Chris, but horses were in his soul since childhood. Above all, Chris valued family, making it a point to travel with his wife, kids, and grandkids at any opportunity. One of his hopes was to see every national park, a goal he nearly achieved. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, his stylish wardrobe, his love of the American West and cowboy culture, his persistent need to help others, his delicious cooking, and his love of the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys, minus Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Diana I. Doll, his children, Emily (Nick)Darnell, Atty. Patrick K. Doll, Matthew T. Doll, and Brighid A. Doll, his grand-children, Harper A. Darnell, and Delilah J. Darnell, his siblings, Pam(Jim) Brown, Kit Doll, Drew (Carolyn)Doll, Jeff (Helene) Doll, Jamie Doll, and Tracy (Gavin) Allred. Sharing their grief are his nieces and nephews Brian Johnson, Katie Johnson-Smith, Meg O’Connor, Jillian Pain, Ian Doll, Elizabeth Doll, Margaret Rakowski, Sam Rakowski, Grace Pratski, Ellen Rakowski, Sarah Allred, and Hannah Allred. And of course, his beloved corgi, Tilly, will forever miss her master.

He will be laid to rest at the Lithuanian Memorial Cemetery, 8201 S. Kean Ave., Justice, Illinois, 60458, on November 7, 2025, at 10:45 AM.Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers,may be made to the Carbon County 4-H Organization, 202 State Street, Joliet, Montana 59041.
