Edward L. Yaras

Edward L. Yaras (Fast Eddie)74, son of Edward and Marie Yaras, loving husband of deceased Janet (Jannie) Yaras, passed away on September 29th 2025 after a brief aggressive battle with cancer. Ed was surrounded by those closet to him sister, and brother in law Lucy (Yaras) Jimmie Mahoney. Also by his closest friends Aldo Bendotti, Jason Johns, and Micheal Vlach.

Ed had an intense passion for hot rods and drag racing. In the 70’s Ed raced a 57 Chevy (Little Stock Class) named Strange Brew. Ed was an instrumental component of building a 64 Nova ,Strange Brew 2 with his long time buddies Jeffrey Johns and Richard Slejza. In 1976 Ed purchased his first new car a 1976 Monte Carlo to which he kept in pristine condition the rest of his life. Ed also purchased a 1968 Chevy 2 in 2020. Ed dedicated the car to his loving wife the late Janet (Jannie)Yaras who passed away in 2019. Ed loved attending car shows, with both cars, and commiserating with his car show group “The Losers.” In the winter seasons you would find Ed building on model cars such as nostalgic funny cars and pro stock. Ed also had a love for dogs especially golden retrievers in which he donated to several charities for them. Ed was particularly close with his last golden retriever Daisy who helped Ed through the passing of his wife. Ed was a loyalist when it came to his immediate friends and was considered “The Mother” of the group, always looking after his friends making sure they were ok. Ed’s life impacted everyone who knew him and he will be remembered always!

Visitation Saturday, October 11th from 3-8pm with a 7:30pm Funeral Service at the Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home 11028 Southwest Hwy. Palos Hills, IL 60465. Interment private.
