Douglas C. Gehrling

Douglas (Doug) C. Gehrling, Sr., of Crown Point, Indiana. The beautiful age of 60 passed on to MacGyver more things.

He was an amazing husband to Lisa Gehrling. He a terrific father to Danielle Gehrling, Douglas Gehrling, Jr., Katie Koziol and Jeanne Wishard. He was also the best grandpa or some would say papa to Aleaha and Nova Valle, the late Zoey Valle, Davis and Emmalee Mansanarez, Zachary Seals, Violet Koziol, Kylin Zissler Owen and Natalie Wishard. He was a baby brother to Dennis, the late Dr. Denise Gehrling and the late Donald Gehrling. He was an uncle to Diane, Heather (Jay), Dennis Pio (Cece), Bryan, and a great uncle to so many more.

Doug loved to work on cars and tinker with things around the house. He loved his highlife and Marlboro. He loved to just have a good time and would eventually do the Irish exit by the end of the night. He would bbq after work no matter what time it is and had a rare sense of humor. He enjoyed boating and being out doors with warm weather. He love to learn he always had an answer for something.

Doug was a graduate student from Wyoming Tech which he pursued his career with AMC, Plymouth, and now what it is known as Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram For many years. He loved his hobby, his career and his cars especially an 1967 AMC AMX with a 390 in it! He was Mr. Fix it!

Family and friends will gather for a memorial visitation on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Funeral Service 7:30 p.m. at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home 11028 Southwest Hwy. Palos Hills, IL 60465
