Donald “DJ” Johnson Jr.

Born on December 8, 1987, in Chicago, DJ lived a life defined by leadership, loyalty, and a deep love for his family and friends. He passed away on May 12, 2026, in Joliet, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University, where he made a lasting impression as a leader among his peers. As president of Delta Sigma Phi (DSP), he formed lifelong friendships and demonstrated the integrity, compassion, and connection that would define him throughout his life.

DJ built a career he truly cherished at Power Home Remodeling, most recently serving as Vice President of Delivery in New Jersey. He was known not only for his professional excellence, but for the genuine care he showed to everyone he worked with. He was a mentor, a trusted leader, and a true friend to many across the organization.

He is lovingly survived by his mother, Donna Mioni Johnson; his father, Donald Johnson; his siblings, Cassie (Tim) Nutley, Danny (Amy), and Catie (Abby Jaqua); and his adored nieces and nephews, Logan, Zachary, Annabelle, and Charlotte.

DJ made a lasting impression on everyone in his life — from the fraternity brothers he supported and guided to the many teams he led and inspired at Power. He had a remarkable gift for bringing people together and lifting others up.

He enjoyed golf, sports, and playing cards, but above all, he treasured time spent with his family and friends. His laughter, generosity, and unwavering loyalty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, May 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 115 Bourbon Street.

DJ’s life was a testament to strength, kindness and connection. His legacy will forever live on through the many lives he touched.
