With deep love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Daniel Anthony Podpora Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and partner, who left this world on May 28, 2025 at the age of 86. Known for his unwavering spirit and zest for life, Daniel was a man who embraced every moment with enthusiasm. As an accomplished elevator mechanic and business owner, Daniel took great pride in his work and was a teacher to many in his field. His expertise extended far beyond his profession, he was a natural born fixer, resourceful, and always ready to lend a hand or offer a solution to any problem that arose. Daniel was not just a man of skill but a man of heart. His charisma and genuine nature drew people to him. His friendly and engaging demeanor made every gathering more enjoyable and he cherished every opportunity to celebrate family, share stories and laughter with those around him. His adventurous spirit led him to pursue his passion for flying, where he enjoyed freedom in the skies and later shared this love with family and friends at the annual EAA airshows. His love for adventure was equally matched on the ground where he enjoyed bowling, golfing and rebuilding his Dodge Challenger. As a husband, father, grandfather, and partner, Daniel was the embodiment of love and support. He instilled values of kindness, hard work, and perseverance in his children and grandchildren, leaving a legacy that will endure through generations. His lessons extended beyond words, he taught by example, showing what it meant to live fully and generously. Daniel was preceded in death by his late wife Germaine; survived by his devoted partner Lauretta; his children and grandchildren, Michelle (Gary) Krol, Lorna (Adam) Sieger, Maxine, Natalie (Chase) Smith, Nolan; Laurie (Dennis) O’Donnell, Courtney, Lindsey; Julie Donnelly, Ryan, Shane; and Daniel Podpora Jr. (Mary), Danielle, Danny, who will forever cherish his memory in their hearts. A celebration of life will be held at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home on Thursday, June 5, 2025, with visitation from 9:00am to 1:00pm and graveside funeral immediately following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
